Structural Interpretation
The source lineage develops from international principles for payment, clearing, and settlement infrastructures toward derivative-specific clearing arrangements, settlement models, and the role of central counterparties in global derivatives markets.
The CPMI-IOSCO framework establishes settlement finality as the point at which a transfer or obligation becomes irrevocable and unconditional, while derivative-specific reports distinguish clearing arrangements from the mechanisms through which cash or deliverable obligations are ultimately settled.
Across exchange-traded, over-the-counter, centrally cleared, and deliverable derivative arrangements, settlement remains structurally concerned with obligations, their determination, the transfer of required value, and final discharge.
This reference remains limited to the structural characterization of derivatives settlement and does not prescribe trading, valuation, collateral, default-management, or implementation-specific settlement procedures.
